How do I buy membership and how much does it cost?

We are holding taster classes at the start of the term which are all free and don’t require membership. After that you must buy membership to attend our classes. Membership costs £30 for the academic year but you don’t need to pay any extra for classes, they are all free for members! – buy membership here.

We as a committee do not have a direct say or take any part in the membership purchasing process. If you have any issues with your purchase, please contact the Students’ Union reception directly. If you are an Alumni, an affiliate student or from another university, please contact the Students’ Union reception to find out whether and how you can join our club.

Where are the classes?

Our classes are held in various rooms around UCL campus. The location for each class will be specified on the booking page, so make sure to check there before you go as locations may sometimes change.

Do I have to book to attend a class?

YES! Our classes are extremely popular and spaces are limited so you must book each class in advance and bring the booking confirmation email with you.

How do bookings work?

Anyone who purchases membership before 23:59 on Saturday night is guaranteed to receive a password to sign up for classes the following Sunday.

The password that can be used to sign up for classes will be sent out at some point on Sunday before bookings open.

The password will ALWAYS be sent out to your UCL email address, under which you purchased your membership. Please do not contact us about not having received the password before bookings open and make sure you check your UCL EMAIL and its spam folder first.

Bookings for classes will open every Sunday at 18:00 on our BOOK CLASSES page. You will be able to book classes for the following 7 days.

Please only book classes that you are sure you can attend and do not book more than 3 classes per week. There are a lot of students in our club who would all like to enjoy our sessions, so please be considerate of your fellow members.

You can also check the facebook page during the week. If someone can no longer attend a class they have booked, it will be advertised there.

How do I do if I can no longer attend a class?

If you can no longer attend a class you previously booked, please go to our official Booking exchange group on Facebook and offer your spot to someone else.

Your Facebook post should ALWAYS include the following:

    • Date and time of the class you booked
    • Teacher of the class
    • The name under which the original booking was made

Please offer your spot to the group at least 3 hours before the start time of class to give other students the chance to take up your spot and make it in time.

The first person to comment on your post will receive your spot.

What should I wear?

You can wear anything you like but make sure it is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement. We recommend t-shirts and leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts.

Are there any class rules?

Please always be ready to show the teacher the email which you received upon purchasing membership as proof of your eligibility to participate in our sessions. Please also make sure to download the pdf that is offered to you once you have completed a booking. This will serve as proof that you have booked a particular class if attendance is checked by the teacher.

Be at the location of the class at least 5 minutes before the start time to ensure that you can enter the room together and have enough time to find a spot.

You will not be allowed to enter the classroom once the session has started. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Should I bring a yoga mat? 

There will be no mats provided by us for any regular sessions, so please make sure you bring your own.

We will provide a limited number of mats for any taster sessions we offer. If you intend to use one of our mats, please make sure to bring a towel and place it on the mat during your practice.

If you do not have a yoga mat, you can bring a towel or a scarf instead – they do the job and are much easier to carry around uni!

I’ve never done yoga before, will I be able to keep up?

Don’t worry, we have classes for all abilities and our wonderful teachers are happy to tailor the classes to everybody’s levels. We do have some advanced level classes too that may be more challenging but the difficulty level will always be clearly stated on the booking page. The great thing about yoga is it can be as intense or gentle as your body wants.

Retreats?

We hold several retreats over the year which are always a lot of fun and a chance to bond with fellow yogis doing what we do best. We organise a few in the UK during term time (usually around reading weeks) and one abroad during the summer holidays. We will advertise these closer to the time.
